The Satilla REMC Foundation presents $MART Grants to Middle School Media Centers

Posted on

This week The Satilla REMC Foundation presented ten $MART Grants to middle school media centers within the nine-county area that Satilla REMC serves.

The $MART Grant Program was implemented in 2009 to provide media and technology resources to middle, primary, and elementary school media centers. The maximum amount for which each school could apply this year was $1,500. Ten middle schools applied for the grant and received checks this week.

These funds will be used to purchase books, computers, and other technology for students. Since 2009, The Satilla REMC Foundation has awarded over $300,000 to elementary, primary, and middle schools in Satilla’s service area in $MART Grants.

The funding for these $MART Grants comes from our Members who choose to round up their electric bills each month. Since the Foundation’s inception in 1999, over 2 million dollars has been awarded in high-school scholarships, $MART Grants, Washington Youth Tours, endowments to South Georgia State College, and capital funding contributions to Coastal Pines and Wiregrass Technical Colleges.
